Fagin takes down his 2nd finals day! a big thank you to everyone who took part in last weekends finals day and made the day a lot of fun!
Also a big thank you to phil bamsey and the team who worked very hard in staging the final as they only had 5 hours between closing and re-opening.
with over 75 runners we got started and the days first elimination was in 3 time finals day winner john hudson!.
the play was fast and furious with plenty of bad beats and great bluffs until we got to our final table.
chris chappell 8th place
anthony sarro 7th place
sharon humphries 6th place
russell williams 5th place
jodie mansfield 4th place
rob plaistow 3rd pace
with colm campbell and stacey pope-evans now heads up it was colm who was chip leader with close to 600k in chips and stacy with just over 200k after a few hands of back and fourth action both players checked an ACE high flop and on the turn all the chips went in the middle with stacey showing top pair top kicker but for colm the turn made him a flush giving colm his 2nd win after a great record of reaching final tables pictures will be up shortly. |

Andy Dewar crowned newest River at Master! with the best of the best gathering last sunday from the leagues champions we saw a great day of poker but after a great disply on the final table andy dewar busted dave liddiatt heads up with his pocket 9's to be crowned The river rat master 09!

Fagin cashes in Dusk Til Dawn 80k tournament A special mention to league players that battled through avery tough field of 280 players up at DTD cardroom in nottingham on the weekend just gone, Fagin managed to finish 11th after a very hard Day1 and chard's Alex Ives also finished in the top ten. |

New record set finals weekend! A very big thank you to everyone that attended our latest monthly final at the poacher in portishead, also a very big thank you to mark, sue & the team for looking after everyone brilliantly!
We started off the day crowning our latest leader boardd champ in Warminsters OllieClarketdidn'tt take long for the action to start with burnhams Nigel King hitting a Royal Flush on the very first hand against me bluffing with a pair of 6's!
It took 3 levels before we lost our first player and the honours this month went to yours truly who got trapped a treat after Portisheads Andy Beaven turned his pocket 8's into a set after a 8 high flop no scare card on the turn saw me push with pocket 9's and see me eliminated first and taking my first spot in the hall of shame!
Weston's Anderson Orton took the first quads of the day with quad 9's!, the action was constant through the day with players getting more busy during the 200 -400 blinds but early chip leaders Andy beaven and Les Thomas showed no signs of letting up.
We reached our final table just after the dinner break with crediton's Daniel King being this months bubble elimination as he finished in 9th place, the final table was fast and furious with the chips moving all around the table it looked like it could be anyone's final,
8th place Les Thomas
7th place Russell Williams
6th place brad rutt
5th place tom shingler
4th place phil bamsey
3rd place Andy beaven
heads up chip count
Ollie Clark 447,500
Craig kirton 251,000
with the blinds now at 30k 60k both players knew that had to go for the win with blinds being stole back and fourth until an all in from Ollie and a long though call from Craig
Ollie K10
Craig Q8
with the board pairing jacks there was no help for Craig and Ollie's K high took the pot making him the very first person in league history to win a leader board and finals day in the same month!
A great effort by everyone on the final table with Craig only down to a BB he played superbly to get himself back in the game
Again a big thank you to everyone that attended I look forward to seeing you next month at the crab apple! |
 |
Dave Kernaghan does the double! a very big thank you to all players that attended our last final and also to maggie & the team for looking after everyone on sunday!
we started of the day by crowning multilpe leaderboard champion Dave Kernaghan with February's title, and with over 50 players seated we were ready to get started
and it was local player ioannis who was eliminated first and was heading off to drown his poker sorrows with the first out bar tab!
the chips were being donated quite generously back and fourth amongst all the players with early chip leaders dave hudson and tim witts leading the charge! just before the dinner break we saw Exmouth Arm's player Laura Brutti take down the biggest pot of the day when her river flush was enough to crack KK and a straight! with the final table in sight we saw all players raise their game and set their sights on making the prizes eventually we had our final 8 players :
8th micheal cuthbertson
7th ted gill
6th dan gratton
5th george stevenson
4th laura brutti
3rd trevor dunn
heads up chip count
Dave Kernaghan 441,500
J R 100,500
J R instantly put the pressure on dave with an early double up and then adding even more by pushing all in pre flop on the next 5 hands and managed to close the gap slightly but in the end dave's Ace hit the turn giving him top pair and the double victory making it now consecutive wins for leaderboard champs to win finals day a great effort by j r who looked like he was going to snatch the victory after being so short stacked plus well done to all players reaching the final table!
see you all next month in weston |

Tom Shingler is crowned latest finals day champion! A very big thank you to everyone that attended our latest final and also a very big thank you to ian, jaquie & the team for all their hard work in preparing for the final and looking after everyone superbly!
we crowned warminsters own stephen hawkins as our newest leaderboard champion now making it 3 champions coming out of the bath arms.
first out honours this month went to warminsters ollie clark and the first quad's also went to martin scott!
the action was fast and furious and just before lunch break we were down to our final table
10th place stephen hawkins
9th place dave kernaghan
8th place kelvin gray
7th place jon hudson
6th place neil tipping
5th place stu greenan
4th place torab ghezelghei
3rd place mike lee
heads up chip count
rob plaistow 334,100
tom shingler 144,200
with back and fourth action and too many bluffs from myself tom managed to double up and took the lead and with a checked blind we saw a flop of
ACE - QUEEN - NINE
a check - bet and a re-raise all in i see my pair of aces is no good against toms twop pair of QUEENS AND NINES and tom takes down his first final!
congrats to everyone that played on the day pictures are now up on the website |

finals day results a very big thank you to all players that attended our latest final at the phoenix!
also a very big thank you to Steve and the team who looked after everyone superbly throughout the day!
we crowned our latest inductee to the river rat masters tournament later this year in south somersets own
first out honours this month went unfortunately to Jodie Mansfield who while holding pocket aces was out flopped by a set giving her the £10 bar tab to drown her sorrows!
we saw chip leaders Alex Ives, nick Lacey leading the pack throughout the early part of the tournament but both were unlucky are were gone after the dinner break, meanwhile colm Campbell saw a fortunate turn of events when he was moved with only 4k left and way behind the average but in his first orbit on the new table he was back up to over 14k!
while down to the last two tables we saw plenty of back and fourth action but the bubble burst when leader board champ was eliminated in 9th place
final table eliminations :
8th jenny jones
7th brad rutt
6th trevor dunn
5th sharon butler
4th emz gartsore
3rd mike gage
heads up chip count
colm campbell 464,500
ray curtis 195,500
with both players looking to take down another finals day competition heads up was cagey with both players not looking to give the other any chance to get more chips,
we saw colm raise on the bb and ray pushing over the top for his last remaining 100+k in chips
colm quickly called
colm A -8
ray J-8
with both players hitting their top pair it was colms pair of aces that gave him his 3rd finals day victory making him the first to win 3 finals days and tie with westons tim williams for number of league tournaments won!
pictures will be up later today

finals day results a big thank you to all players that attended our recent final this weekend at donyatt,
we were way off our normal starting field which obviously lessens the experience of the day but also lets down venues willing to hold a finals day as a lot of work and organisation goes into running our league final day from their end i.e - extra staff , extra food and drink orderd in to cater for everyone, turning away bookings due to final being played that day.
i cant expect players to attend every final but it has always been the same and the fairest way is always to move the finals day around each month to give players a local final where for a month their travelling is not so far i welcome suggestions on final day venues and if there is a fairer i am willing to listen as one suggestion was passed over the weekend and this was to hold finals for derserving players that make the effort each month to come and take on some of the best players in the south west.
also feedback on finals themselves will be great as what would be a good incentive to make the trip to come and play poker in the final!
please take this on board as im sure it was a one off but we all love playing poker and getting the opptunity to play a well staged deepstack tournament where at no cost to you is rare these days and i would hate to see venues no longer wishing to host finals!
with that said onto junes leaderboard results!
we started off by crowning local legend lee lawrence as junes leaderboard champion who narrowly beat arnie by a few points to claim his second leaderboard trophy!
once all players were seated it was after the first hour we lost devon leaderboard champ keith manser and was he exited out in last place!
first four of a kind went to sharon butler who took down a massive pot with quad aces!
final table eliminations:
8th sharon butler
7th scott macauley
6th mark frost
5th ted gill
4th andy marks
3rd j r
heads up chip count
andy kenton 205k
fagin 171k
with the longest heads up we've seen this year it was plenty of back and fourth action with the title going either way at any point of the game!
in the end we saw both players get their chips in on the turn with fagin looking to take down his 4th final tournament with pair of jacks and a flush draw and andy holding trip 9's the river didnt bring the much needed club for fagin's flush draw and andy kentons trip 9's was good enough to win him his first finals day after being heads up in donyatt the year previous!
again a great effort from everyone on the day and one of the best final tables we've seen in a while pictures will follow shortly! |

so with 8 teams spread across 5 tables the first stage was some of the most cagiest play ive ever seen with no player wanting to be first out in their team! but as the blinds increased so did the action and players were starting to crash out especially on table 3 where one man wrecking machine abdel from The Bad Beaters eliminated everyone on the table giving him maximum points plus an extra 1500 chips for his team in knockout bounties!

a great day was had by all and keep your eyes open for our next event which will be held in novemeber pictures will be up on the site later today! |

Also first player to hit quads was burnhams ben burridge who made quad tens! the player was solid throughout the day with bluffs made at every direction and we were down to the final ten by the lunchbreak
